JOB SUMMARY
The IT Device Maintenance Specialist will prepare computer and telecommunications devices for distribution. They will make sure devices are clean, in working order, and are fully charged. They will run any required updates, configure user accounts, and confirm device management enrollment. They will maintain an inventory of devices and report daily on their status and condition.
This is a temporary, full-time, Exempt role, based in San Francisco Bay Area (BMPHQ) running from May to June, 2026.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PERCENTAGE OF TIME SPENT
Device Configuration (65%)
- Deleting and creating user accounts on laptop and desktop computers. Resetting and registering tablets and phones. Updating device Operating Systems. Confirming device registration, profiles, and applications.
Device Preparation (15%)
- Clean and fully charge all devices. Replace broken cases. Report damaged or malfunctioning devices. Prepare devices for transport.
Device Inventory (15%)
- Replace damaged or peeling inventory tags. Replace any inventory tags that do not scan properly. Update device inventory list. Track status and progress of all devices.
Other Functions and Responsibilities (5%)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
- Documentation - Assists in the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to their assigned duties.
- Knowledge sharing – Helps acculturate and educate junior staff in Burning Man culture and business processes.
- Training development - Collaborates with the education team to develop training materials in their area of expertise, as requested.
- Learning – Pursues ongoing learning in their area of expertise, working to stay current on emergent knowledge, skills, and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Proficient with basic computer support skills, including setup, networking, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient with basic task tracking and reporting using spreadsheets and other basic office communication tools.
- Good driving record.
PREFERRED
- Advanced computer support skills.
- Inventory management experience.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
COMPENSATION:
Individual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including prior experience and geographical location. The anticipated pay rate for this position is $1360 to $1380 per week.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is primarily sedentary in nature; however this position requires periods of heavy lifting, moving heavy boxes with a cart, bending, kneeling, and squatting.
