JOB SUMMARY
This NVO Kitchen Crew is a meal service delivery role during the event, lasting four weeks from Black Rock City to BRS, FLY, 360 & Gerlach. Drivers must have a valid license and a good driving record. We deliver meals to crew members, working off Playa, promptly for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Crew members must be very detail oriented.
This temporary role is:
- From August - September: Part-Time (25 hours/week), Non-Exempt, based Black Rock City, Nevada.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
NVO Kitchen Crew - Delivery drivers pick up to-go meals from the commissary on playa at the togo headquarters. Check each order for each location and make sure we have the correct numbers of meals and allergies/diets. Crew members have to be very detail oriented to make sure to note all crew allergies are noted & meals accounted for. Crew members drive a fleet or rental vehicle to do deliveries. Each vehicle has a radio to communicate to the managers, commissary & crew whom they are delivering too.
Driving (70%)
- Driving in and out of playa for deliveries.
Quality Control (20%)
- Checking food order counts, make sure to have accurate diet & allergy orders labeled as well as correct quantity for the staff.
Standby (5%)
- Wait for the orders to be completed by the DPW Commissary crew. Standby to find out if there are no deliveries for that meal that day.
Other Functions and Responsibilities (5%)
- Crew Care delivery drivers must be on time, 100% sober and rested to safely deliver meals.
- Other duties as required.

- Documentation - Assists in the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to their assigned duties.
- Knowledge sharing – Helps acculturate and educate junior staff in Burning Man culture and business processes.
- Learning – Pursues ongoing learning in their area of expertise, working to stay current on emergent knowledge, skills, and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Ability to adjust schedule seasonally to work at the Burning Man event held in Nevada.
- Great customer service.
- Acts with discretion and shows good discernment of sensitive information.
- Remains patient and professional toward coworkers and staff in any situation.
- Attention to details.
PREFERRED
- It is helpful if the candidate has previously been to Burning Man and/or is familiar with its culture.
- Ability to use Slack & use radio correctly.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
COMPENSATION:
- From August - September is $16.00 per hour.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Off-playa: N/A
- On-playa: This position requires periods of heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing. This position will be physically demanding, and requires individuals with good physical health, and endurance. The work will be outside & inside of the vehicle and commissary. With some airborne particles, as well as possible extremes in weather.
